Season 2 of the "Game of Thrones" spinoff "House of the Dragon" will premiere on HBO/Max in June, Warner Bros. Discovery streaming and gaming boss JB Perrette announced Monday.

Speaking at a media conference Q&A, Perrette said the series is one of a handful of HBO tentpole series set to contribute to a turnaround at the media giant after a soft period for film and television due in part to last year's Hollywood strikes.

While he didn’t give a specific premiere date, HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys said in November that season 2 would be coming in early summer and Warner Bros. Discover CEO David Zaslav confirmed during the February 23 earnings call that the season would premiere in Q2.

The fantasy drama series is based on author George RR Martin’s 2018 novel "Fire & Blood", set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

It chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons.

"House of the Dragon" stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin executive produce with Sara Hess, Vince Gerardis, Season 2 director Alan Taylor, and Season 1 director/co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik.
