Renowned tennis player Anwar Elkamouny has turned his personal battle with cancer into a powerful campaign aimed at spreading hope and awareness.

Through his initiative, "Hope Givers," Elkamouny seeks to address the psychological and social challenges faced by cancer patients, drawing from his own experiences to inspire others.

Elkamouny, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 23, began his journey during the Macedonia Championship.

Despite the shock and concern of his family, Elkamouny remained focused on his tennis career, even as he embarked on a grueling seven-year treatment process.

His story of resilience and determination has been chronicled in a film released in 2019, with the campaign launching two years later in 2021.

The primary aim of the campaign is to offer cancer patients not just words of encouragement, but concrete examples of survival and success.

Elkamouny emphasizes that the true battle lies not in the physical fight against cancer, but in overcoming the mental and emotional challenges. "Cancer is not the killer. The real killer is depression," he asserts.

The campaign has garnered significant support from various organizations and notable figures. Tosca Musk, a prominent filmmaker, and the President of UNESCO have joined forces with Elkamouny, contributing their expertise and influence to the cause.

Additionally, Egyptian philanthropist Mohamed Abou El-Enein, known for his extensive charitable work, has been a key supporter, making substantial contributions that align with his history of philanthropy in Egypt.

“Hope Givers" has extended its efforts beyond Egypt, launching initiatives in France, Italy, Germany, the United States, and Mexico.

The campaign aims to culminate its current phase with a significant event in December.

Elkamouny’s campaign welcomes volunteers with a background in charitable work, stressing the importance of spreading positivity and halting the spread of negativity.

Future projects include the successful implementation of the Duweiqa Project, aimed at empowering women through employment opportunities.

Elkamouny’s message is clear: "We must find and highlight the positives, and if we encounter negatives, we should work to stop them and refrain from spreading them."

“Hope Givers" campaign is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of mental strength in the fight against cancer.
