Thanksgiving is over and the countdown to Christmas has begun, and Hollywood marked the occasion on Sunday with the 93rd Hollywood Christmas Parade.

The 3.2-mile parade featured dozens of celebrities and local leaders.

The route traveled west along Hollywood Boulevard, continued to Orange Drive and Vine Street, then headed south to Sunset Boulevard before circling back to Orange.

Actor Luke Wilson, known for films such as Legally Blonde, Old School, Idiocracy and The Royal Tenenbaums, served as this year’s grand marshal.

“I’m honored to be the grand marshal of this year’s Hollywood Christmas Parade and join the long list of Hollywood legends who have held this role. I’m excited to support Marine Toys for Tots and help bring joy to children who need it most,” Wilson said.

Actor Anthony Anderson, celebrated for his role in ABC’s black-ish, was named Humanitarian of the Year in recognition of his work with multiple nonprofits, including the Anthony Anderson Celebrity Golf Classic.

“It’s a tremendous honor to receive this humanitarian award. I’m grateful to have my charitable efforts recognized by such a respected institution in Hollywood,” Anderson said.

The event was hosted by Erik Estrada and Laura McKenzie, with Elizabeth Stanton and Montel Williams joining as co-hosts.

Entertainment included performances by ventriloquist Terry Fator, magician Mai Wynn, and singers Anna Azerli, Liz Lentz, Melinda Lindler and Sarah Reeves.

The parade showcased stars from film, television and theater, along with seven marching bands, nine giant character balloons, seven floats, dozens of classic movie cars, and of course, an appearance by Santa Claus.

Among the celebrities attending were Thelma Houston, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, Cesar Millan, Ian Ziering, Deidre Hall, Kate Linder and Olivia d’Abo.

Past grand marshals have included icons such as Gene Autry, Charlton Heston, Bob Hope, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Pickford, James Stewart, Walter Matthau, John Wayne, Olivia Newton-John, Susan Lucci, and Dwayne Johnson.

The parade has been held annually since 1928, with breaks only during World War II (1942–1944) and in 2020 due to the pandemic. The original 1928 edition was called the Santa Claus Lane Parade, with comedian Joe E. Brown serving as its first grand marshal.

This year’s event was not broadcast live, but a recorded version will air on The CW Network on December 12.
