The teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 1993 classic movie "Hocus Pocus" has finally been unveiled.
High School Musical Kenny Ortega directed the original movie from a screenplay by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris. The movie did not do well critically, however, home video and television broadcasting turned it into a Halloween classic.
Plans for the project were first reported in 2019.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the Sanderson Sisters in the live-action comedy sequel.
“The Proposal” filmmaker Anne Fletcher will be taking over directing duties from Adam Shankman, who previously was set to direct and remains as an executive producer.
Sam Richardson, Doug Jones, and Hannah Waddingham join the cast, along with Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham.

"Hocus Pocus 2" is centered around three young women accidentally bringing the Sanderson Sisters back. They must stop the child-hungry witches from creating a new kind of havoc on the world.
The trailer began with a blackbird flying across an expanse of water and then the ring of a school bell. There is a birthday celebrant among three teenage girls and a discussion regarding how to celebrate the big occasion.
They arrive at a shop where the shopkeeper (Richardson) who tells them a short menacing tale saying, “You know, legend has it, it’s on the 16th birthday that a witch gets her powers.”
Two of the girls then seem to read out a spell leading to a blue flame lighting on the Black Flame Candle, marking the return of the Sanderson sisters.
“Lock up your children. Yes, Salem, we’re back!” Bette's character Winifred says.
The trailer ends with the sisters at a carnival where a man who is happy to see them chimes in “I bet you’re looking for the stage” to which he gets a rather mischievous reply from Winifred “Always.”
"Hocus Pocus 2" will debut on Disney+ on September 30.
