Production has begun on the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 1993 classic movie “Hocus Pocus“.
However, the filming didn't begin in Salem, where the first movie was set, instead, crews were seen working this week at La Salle Academy, a Catholic high school, in Providence, Rhode Island.
A sign placed outside the school indicated the property was being used by Fairy Dust Productions, Inc.
The production company is incorporated in Rhode Island, however, its home office address is listed at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.
Plans for the sequel were first reported in 2019.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the Sanderson Sisters in the live-action comedy sequel.
“The Proposal” filmmaker Anne Fletcher will be taking over directing duties from Adam Shankman, who previously was set to direct and remains as an executive producer.
The "Tomorrow War" star Sam Richardson is currently in final negotiations to board the project.
“Hocus Pocus 2”, is centered around three young women accidentally bringing the Sanderson Sisters back. They must stop the child-hungry witches from creating a new kind of havoc on the world.
The sequel will premiere on Disney Plus in fall 2022.
