Netflix has ordered the psychological thriller limited series “His & Hers” with Tessa Thompson set to star in the lead role.
The giant streamer has given the series a six-episode order. It is based on the Alice Feeney novel of the same name.
William Oldroyd and “Ozark” co-creator Bill Dubuque serve as writers and executive producers on the series, with Oldroyd also set to direct the first episode.
The official description of the series reads, “Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna (Thompson) lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a journalist. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: his and hers, which means someone is always lying.”
Alongside Oldroyd and Dubuque, Thompson will also be an executive producer on “His & Hers” under her Viva Maude banner.
Dee Johnson will be the showrunner and executive producer in addition to writing. Kristen Campo of Campout Productions also executive produces along with Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films and Kishori Rajan for Viva Maude. Fifth Season, where Dubuque is under an overall deal, is the studio.
Thompson’s past TV roles include “Westworld,” “Veronica Mars,” and “Copper.”
On the film side, she starred in movies like “Annihilation,” “Dear White People,” “Mississippi Damned,” “For Colored Girls,” “Selma,” and “Sorry to Bother You,”.
She has also starred in two major film franchises in recent years: the three “Creed” films opposite Michael B. Jordan and the “Thor” films beginning with “Thor: Ragnarok,” in which she played Valkyrie.
She reprised the role of Valkyrie in the sequel “Thor: Love and Thunder” and the MCU film “The Marvels.”
