Hilary Duff is finally making her highly-anticipated return to music.
She has signed with Atlantic Records ahead of the release of her highly anticipated new album.
This marks the singer-actress' first full-length record since the release of her fifth studio album “Breathe In. Breathe Out,” which dropped in June 2015.
In addition to the album, Duff will also be the subject of a docuseries that chronicles her journey back to music and explores her personal life.
The docuseries will be directed and executive-produced by Sam Wrench, who has sat at the helm for “A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter” and “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” through Next of Kin Content.
According to a release, the docuseries will embrace “the ups, downs and everything in between,” and promises that “fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.”
On her Instagram page on Tuesday, Duff shared a snapshot of her working in the studio as she teased her return to music.
"New music… or something 🪩✨🍒," she wrote.
Fans online were quick to react to her post.
"This is what dreams are made of," one fan commented.
"Oh we are SO back!!" another wrote.
Prior to the announcement that she was going to drop a new album, the singer took to social media to look back on her journey in the music industry.
"Clearly I had to go digging around the internet for pictures from this time as I’m not sure camera phones even existed. Sadly all my hairstyles ARE very documented," Duff wrote as she shared photos when she released her first self-titled album.
"I do know this marker of time was a huge change in my being. I was embarking on something I had no idea would make such an impact on peoples lives, and mine. As much as I look back and think this album doesn’t hold the emotional depth I look for today, I know my 14/15 year old self meant every word. It sure as hell also landed on people at the right moment in time and set me off on a pretty epic adventure," she said.
Duff went on: "I remember some of my first shows being in a skate park in San Jose, and very shortly after, stepping out on stage in arenas. Yesterday marked the 22nd anniversary of Metamorphosis… Although these are distant memories for me, thank you for showing up the way that you did. To be continued."
The singer-actress previously released her first few albums (“Metamorphosis,” “Hilary Duff“) through Buena Vista and Hollywood Records.
She signed to RCA Records in July 2014 and subsequently released its first single “Chasing the Sun” written by Jason Reeves, Colbie Caillat and Toby Gad. “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” was her sole album on the imprint and at the time her first in seven years following 2007’s “Dignity.” Her last music release was a cover of Third Eye Blind’s “Never Let You Go” alongside RAC and her husband Matthew Koma.
Over the past decade, Duff has focused her attention more on acting, appearing on “Younger” from 2015 through 2021 before joining “How I Met Your Father,” which lasted for two seasons.
