Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the strength of the Egyptian-Swiss relations in various fields, praising the status enjoyed by Switzerland as a destination for higher education in addition to the great international reputation of Swiss universities.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar expressed his aspiration to increase scientific and technological cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries during the coming period.
This came during a meeting between Dr. Abdel Ghaffar and Swiss Ambassador to Egypt Paul Garnier to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Switzerland in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The minister talked about the Egyptian higher education strategy and the attention paid by the state to the file of higher education through the establishment of many public, and private universities.
He also pointed to the persity of the majors in these universities that keep pace with global technological development and meet the needs of the labor market.
The minister welcomed the Swiss partnership with Egyptian universities, expressing his desire for further cooperation between the two countries.
He also pointed out to the importance of technical education and the establishment of new technology universities, which represent a window for Egyptian students to acquire more skills in various majors of applied sciences, stressing the importance of benefiting from the Swiss experience in this field.
On his part, Garnier talked about the Swiss experience in the field of technical and technological education, expressing his desire for cooperation with Egypt in this field.
He pointed out that his country offers many scholarships, calling on Egyptian scholars to make use of them.
