Here's Your First Look at “Captain America: Brave New World”

Marvel Studios has unveiled the official poster and teaser for “Captain America: Brave New World,” the fourth Captain America movie and the first starring Anthony Mackie‘s flying superhero Sam Wilson, formerly Cap’s sidekick the Falcon.

The upcoming installment sees Mackie officially suiting up and taking flight as the new Captain America, a role previously played by Chris Evans.

Evans first appeared in 2011's “Captain America: The First Avenger” as the weak and frail Rogers, a kid from Brooklyn who wanted to stand up to bullies. The hero’s journey to becoming Captain America began when he was injected with the super-soldier serum.

Along the way, he befriended Sam Wilson, a loyal friend to Rogers, who fought with him to protect the innocent. 

Mackie first appeared as Wilson in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and reprised the role in six movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Avengers: Endgame” closed a lot of loose ends and included new beginnings, including Rogers bidding farewell to his fellow superheroes and time travels to have a new life with his beloved Peggy Carter. He gives his iconic vibranium shield to Sam, who vows to do right by the world-famous hero. 

Wilson officially assumed the mantle in Disney+’s 2021’s "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" series.

“Captain America: Brave New World” will be the first time Mackie returns to the Marvel universe. It also features Harrison Ford in his MCU debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, taking over for the late William Hurt. Ross is now the President of the United States in “Brave New World”.

Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson also star, reprising their roles of Betty Ross and Samuel Sterns from “The Incredible Hulk”.

The cast includes his “Falcon and Winter Soldier” co-stars Danny Ramirez, as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as superhero Sabra, and Giancarlo Esposito as a mysterious villain.

In the trailer, Wilson is greeted by U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who wants to make Captain America a U.S. agent. The action heats up quickly as the superhero stops a would-be assassin at the White House. 

The footage ends with a quick look at the new character Red Hulk, another gamma-irradiated monster, who is the alter-ego of “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel comics. It’s unclear if the fourth “Captain America” movie will follow the same storyline as the comics, though. 

Julius Onah directs the movie from a script by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. 

“Captain America: Brave New World” hits theaters next year on February 12, 2025.
