Sony finally dropped the first look at “Insidious: Out of the Further” at CinemaCon on Monday, the annual movie theater trade show that’s currently unfolding at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The movie is the sixth installment in the supernatural horror franchise, which revolves around the creepy concept of “the Further” — a purgatorial place inhabited by the tortured spirits of the dead.

The next chapter played well for the attendees at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino — introducing a new cast with some familiar chills and demons.

The movie serves as a sequel to 2023’s “Insidious: The Red Door” and follows a new family as well as “a terror that redefines what The Further is capable of,” per the official logline.

As it’s a prequel to the original films, 2010’s “Insidious” and 2013’s “Insidious: Chapter 2,” stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne won’t appear in the sixth entry.

Instead, Amelia Eve, Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell, and Laura Gordon will lead the cast along with Lin Shaye, who is reprising her role as Elise Rainier from the previous films.

Eve will play Gemma, a young mother who is raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, when she discovers she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls. When something evil comes after her, Gemma discovers an ability that changes everything: she doesn’t just enter The Further, she can bring what lives there back to the real world. As the logline teases, “Once the demons realize her power, our world becomes their playground.”

Jacob Chase wrote and directed “Out of the Further,” which will be released in theaters on August 21.

Jason Blum will produce the film for Blumhouse, along with franchise creators James Wan and Whannell.

“Insidious” has been a commercially successful series with the five low-budget films having generated a combined $740 million globally.

The most recent entry, “The Red Door,” became the highest-grossing entry to date with $189 million worldwide.
