Helwan University Announces Victory of Research Project

Dr. Maged Negm, President of Helwan University, announced the victory of a research project at the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence related to the application of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of plant leaves.

Nagm said that the project is funded by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, ITIDA - one and a half million Egyptian pounds.

He explained that the university gives great importance to scientific research and research staff, pointing out that the university seeks to direct its programs, research, and specializations in a manner consistent with its responsibility towards society to solve its problems.

He pointed out that the university's support for scientific research, academic research, and research projects is one of its priorities in order to solve the country's national issues.

On the other hand, Dr. Mona Fouad, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, explained the importance of linking scientific research with the information technology industry. She pointed out that the university gives high priority to linking the academic community with the industry and giving priority to scientific research that works to solve societal problems.

Furthermore, Dr. Osama Imam, Dean of the College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, stressed the importance of the central role these colleges play, in line with Egypt's 2030 plan for digital transformation.

The winning project presented by Dr. Mona Nasr, Head of Information Systems Department, provides an applied solution to diagnose plant diseases. The proposed solution combines the latest research methodologies and information technology techniques to provide the Egyptian farmers and the Agricultural Research Center with an application to diagnose plant diseases in a fast, easy, and accurate manner.

The ICT industry is transforming academic and research technologies into practical applications to help solve real-world problems. The data technology will also develop two applications, one for Android phones and the other for "Apple" and "iPhone" in addition to the required background for applications.
