“The White Lotus” is expanding its cast for the fourth season with Helena Bonham Carter, Chris Messina, and Marissa Long.
Bonham Carter and Messina had previously been reported to be in negotiations for roles in the new season of the hit HBO series, but it had not been official until now.
As is usually the case with “The White Lotus,” exact character and plot details are under wraps.
The trio joins previously announced cast members Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Alexander Ludwig, and AJ Michalka.
Season 4 will take place in France, including Paris and multiple locations along the French Riviera.
Series mastermind Mike White is the writer, director, and executive producer. David Bernad and Mark Kamine also executive produce.
Bonham Carter has received two Oscar nominations in her career — one for best supporting actress for “The King’s Speech” and the other for best actress for “The Wings of the Dove.”
She is also a nine-time Golden Globe nominee, including nods for her work in films like the aforementioned two as well as “Sweeney Todd” and for her role in two seasons of “The Crown.”
Bonham Carter is likewise a five-time Emmy nominee, including two for “The Crown” along with “Merlin,” “Live From Baghdad,” and “Burton and Taylor.” Her other notable film roles include “Fight Club” and the “Harry Potter” film franchise.
