Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Health Ministry spokesman confirmed on Tuesday that COVID-19 vaccine boosts immunity and reduces the risk of infection.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the vaccine does not prevent coronavirus infection, stressing that people must follow precautionary measures such as wearing facemasks and maintaining social distancing.
Moreover, he also urged citizens to register online in order to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible.
It is worth mentioning that, Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said Egypt managed to secure large amounts of the internationally approved Covid-19 vaccines.
In televised remarks, Tag El-Din added that Egypt is dealing professionally with the Coronavirus pandemic, stressing that the epidemiological situation of coronavirus (COVID-19) is ‘under control’.
He also noted that the state aims to vaccinate 40% of its population against COVID-19 by the end of 2021.
