Cabinet Imposes New COVID-19 Restrictions for 2 Weeks

On Wednesday, the Egyptian Cabinet headed by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly imposed new COVID-19 restrictions amid the final days of the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid al-Fitr occasion.

 

In a press conference after the meeting of the Supreme Committee of Competing against Coronavirus, Madbouly said that these restrictions aim to control the epidemiological situation during the upcoming season of holidays.

 

The restrictions include shutting of all kinds of stores, shops, malls, clubs, cafes, and restaurants from 9 pm. Delivery service will be available 24 hours a day.

 

Also, all kinds of entertaining activities, concerts, gatherings, festivals, and conferences will be banned.

 

Regarding the Feast prayers will be allowed only in major mosques where Friday prayers are performed and children's presence is banned.

 

Prayers should be organized under strict COVID-19 preventive measures, including wearing facial masks, as well as maintaining social distancing codes.

 

Finally, Madbouly asserted that public gardens, parks, beaches will be closed.

 

All measures will come into force starting from tomorrow until May 21.
