The series is based on the 2013 post-apocalyptic video game of the same title and stars Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams.

"The Last of Us" was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It has taken the world by storm upon its launch.

The series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone.

However, what starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

The series also features Gabriel Luna as Joel’s younger brother and former soldier, Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, and Anna Torv as Tess, a smuggler and fellow hardened survivor.

It will also include the guest appearances of Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel’s 14-year-old daughter, Murray Bartlett, and Nick Offerman as Frank and Bill, two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town, Storm Reid as Riley, an orphan in Boston, and Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in a quarantine zone.

The series is also co-written, executive produced and directed by Neil Druckmann, of The Last of Us and Uncharted video game franchises.

Carolyn Strauss will also serve as executive producer along with Evan Wells from the original game’s developer, Naughty Dog, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.

"The Last of Us" is expected to release on HBO and HBO Max in 2023.
