World-famed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass said that he is working on launching a national campaign to get all stolen Egyptian artefacts back to homeland. He added that there is no offence against the minister of antiquities, or the Egyptian government and its ties with the German authorities.
The Egyptologist expressed during his interview with TV presenter Hamdy Rizk in his program “Nazra,” aired on Sada El Balad, that there is a sense of awakening to restore all stolen Egyptian antiquities.
Therefore, he is working on establishing an open petition for the whole world to get the prestigious Egyptian artefacts from major museums such as Rosetta Stone, Dendera Zodiac Calendar Palette, and Nefertiti bust from Louvre Museum.
Next, Hawass explained that Egypt used to sell artefacts officially in local markets, and there are several pieces that were tracked outside the country legally, however, he asserted that he targeted all stolen artefacts.
He concluded that France stole Egypt’s Rosetta Stone, and presented it as a gift to Britain which is provocative action as France has no right to present something it doesn’t own.
