During his lecture at Lions Elite club, renewed archaeologist Zahi Hawass announced yesterday the staging date of his Tutankhamun opera. According to him, the opera performances shall at the Cairo Opera House in March 2021.
He added, “Every man needs to love what he is doing to master it.”
Referring to himself, Hawass described the challenges he faced at the beginning of his career including the difficulty of his adaption at Antiques Authority. After that, he initiated another move in his career since joining the missions of excavation which followed by obtaining a seven-year scholarship for studying archaeology abroad.
Explaining the ancient Egyptians beliefs, Hawass pointed out to the existence of more than 124 pyramids in Egypt alongside the wonder of wonders the Great Pyramid.
Due to their beliefs around the afterlife, the ancient Egyptians mastered various sciences especially construction such as the construction of pyramids according to him. He asserted the importance of pyramids in ancient Egypt as a national mega project and as the headquarter of the kings.
Regarding the red mercury myth, Hawass refuted the presence of red mercury in the discovered tombs; moreover, he rejected such beliefs. Another fact Hawass explained is the percentage of the unearthed ancient Egyptian artifacts. He described that the percentage of the discovered antiques is only 30 percent until now.
Discussing the issue of smuggling the Egyptian antiques, before 1983, the Egyptian antiques were illegitimately stolen in addition to allowing the archaeological missions to have half of the discovered artifacts besides smuggling.
Next, Hawass refuted another myth which is the curse of the ancient Egyptians, the reason is the nature of the tombs. The places where the mummies discovered were closed for thousands of years, so after opening them thousands of germs can infect the excavators and harm them.
Finally, Hawass announced his aim in restoring Nefertiti’s bust to Egypt through organizing a huge campaign for this target.
