Renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass has met with a high-level American delegation of intellectuals, writers, university professors and public figures in front of the Sphinx.
Hawass told the delegation that the Sphinx dates back to King Khafre, the founder of the Second Pyramid.
"All allegations, which claim that there is a city missing under the Sphinx are baseless," Hawass said.
He also talked about the recent archaeological discoveries made by the Antiquities Ministry in the Monkeys’ Valley.
Moreover, Hawass also briefed them on Tutankhamun's opera, scheduled to be displayed on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
" Wadi al-Jarf” papyri is the most important archaeological discovery in the 21st century, as it unveils many secrets about the real builders of the pyramids," Hawass concluded.
