Acclaimed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass criticized the cancellation of the American rapper Travis Scott's concert, which is scheduled to take place on July 28, in the Giza Pyramids.
Hawass said, "I am completely against canceling Scott's concert, especially since he performed a concert in Saudi Arabia," noting that the cancellation may affect the country's international reputation.
Talking about the Afrocentric issue, he appreciated the action taken by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, to stop the work of the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities' mission operated in the Saqqara region because it distorts historical facts, misleading public opinion.
He also strongly denied allegations that the Ancient Egyptians were black, saying "The Kingdom of Kush ruled Egypt in the 25th Dynasty, and this is in the late era, but they have no connection with the Pharaonic civilization ."
