Hany Shaker to Perform Concert in August

Hany Shaker will hold concert on 23 August at Salah El-Din Citadel as part of the 28th Citadel Festival for Music and Singing.

Shaker will perform some of his best known songs audiences have come to love throughout his career spanning more than 45 years, including 'Ally El-Dehkaya', 'Lessa Betesaly', 'Yaritak Maaya'.

On other hand, Shaker has headed the Musicians Syndicate since 2015, as well as the Egyptian star, who started his career during the golden age of Egyptian music, has been re-elected Musicians Syndicate head.

Shaker was born in Cairo in 1952. He started his musical career at a very young age in Abdel Halim Hafez choral in the song “Sora” (Photo). Later, he performed the role of young Sayed Darwish in the movie “Sayed Darwish”.

He studied music in the Cairo Conservatoire. In 1972, while he was a student in the second year, he released his first breakthrough hit “Heloua Ya Donia”. He had much support from the musical legends at that time, such as Umm Kulthum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Abdel Halim Hafez, as they believed in his talent.

45 concerts will be performed at the 28th Citadel Festival for Music and Singing between 18 August and 1 September hosting three concert a day at the historical venue.

Noteworthy, Culture Minister Ines Abdel-Dayem opened the 27th Saladin Citadel Music Festival that runs from 2-17 August. The celebration featured 37 concerts by musicians from Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, China, Mexico and Panama.

Meanwhile, the Cairo Opera House Chairman Magdi Saber said, ”This year the official title includes the word “international” for the first time, reflecting the global variety of Sufi, classical, jazz as well as Oriental music.”
