Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh revealed, on Friday evening, that the Arab Republic of Egypt had mediated a prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel, according to Palestinian media reports.
In response to media inquiries about the reasons for the presence of an Egyptian security delegation in the Gaza Strip in the past week, Haniyeh said "We welcome the Egyptian role in the possibility of reaching a new swap agreement (for prisoners), and we hope to accomplish something in this regard."

“The brothers in Egypt are following up on many files, including reconciliation, the siege, the Rafah crossing, and the exchange of prisoners,” he added.
He pointed out that his movement’s relationship with Egypt is "strong and stable,” stressing that “Cairo's role is pivotal in the Palestinian cause."
It is noteworthy that Israel said that Hamas has detained four Israelis since the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in 2014.
Earlier on Friday, the Egyptian intelligence service delegation left the Gaza Strip for Israel, after a visit that began Thursday.
