After arrival of the first Israeli flight to the UAE on Monday, the Palestinian Hamas Movement issued a statement condemning the UAE's decision to allow direct flights with Israel.
"Abu Dhabi rulers insist on continuing the sin of normalization by signing a shameful agreement with the Zionist entity (Israel), and through practical translation to implement an "official" trip from Tel Aviv towards Abu Dhabi, through Saudi airspace," Hamas's statement read.
The statement added that the UAE-Israeli Peace deal comes amid an escalation of Zionist crimes targeting the city of Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, "in light of the strengthening of settlements, theft of land in implementation of the annexation and displacement plan, and the tightening of the unjust siege and the continuing military escalation on the steadfast Gaza Strip."
"This visit constitutes a stab in the back of the Palestinian people, consecration of the occupation, a betrayal of the people's resistance, and a conspiracy in their struggle," the statement added.
Hamas also warned against the deal's repercussions on Arab national security and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian movement urged the rulers of Abu Dhabi to "immediately withdraw from this disgraceful agreement," calling on the Arab peoples and all their political and cultural forces to take practical positions in confronting this peace deal and to do all that is necessary "to restore the national role in defending Palestine and its Arab identity."
