Halsey and Amy Lee of Evanescence have teamed up for the thundering pop single, “Hand That Feeds” for "Ballerina", a forthcoming film set in the John Wick universe.
Haunting and cinematic, the impassioned was released on Friday and matches the intensity of the June-slated film as the two musicians harmonize with one another. “Too late ’cause you know you can’t turn around and bite the hand that feeds,” they sing over eerie piano and siren-like drones, as first heard by fans in a snippet sent out by the “Without Me” musician in a text blast a few days prior.
"Ballerina" is in theaters June 6 and stars Ana de Armas, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
It takes place during the events of "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum", and follows Eve Macarro (de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
The “Hand That Feeds” duo first announced that the collaboration was in the works just three days prior to its release, simply sharing a promotional photo — featuring Halsey and the “My Immortal” vocalist reaching for each other across a platform on a dimly lit stage — in a joint post on Instagram.
The team-up is a long time coming considering the “Closer” artist’s almost lifelong fandom of Evanescence, which manifested in Halsey cosplaying Lee during the rollout of 2024 album "The Great Impersonator".
“Yes, I am freaking out about it,” Halsey wrote of collaborating with her idol in a recent text message to fans.
“Hand That Feeds” marks the About-Face Beauty founder’s first release since February’s “Safeword.”
Evanescence last dropped music in March, releasing “Afterlife” for the Netflix series "Devil May Cry".
Halsey will kick off her My Last Trick tour in Concord, California on Saturday. The trek will run for 32 dates through July.
Evanescence will appear for a special guest performance at her Hollywood Bowl show on May 14.
The musician will also be joined on select dates by Del Water Gap, the Warning, Alvvays, Hope Tala, Sir Chloe, Royel Otis, Flowerovlove, Magdalena Bay, and Alemeda.
The singer teased the tour during an appearance on The Tonight Show in February. “I really like putting on a big show,” Halsey told host Jimmy Fallon what fans can expect. “I think people are usually pretty surprised when they come to see me in concert, especially if they only know me for the songs on the radio. The show can be quite, like, aggressive. Like, I’m like a little demon. I get out there and have to exorcise some stuff.”
