Halle Berry Engaged to Van Hunt

Halle Berry and her longtime partner Van Hunt got engaged after dating for nearly six years.

The “Catwoman” actress revealed the news on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”

Clarifying reports that claim she turned down her boyfriend’s initial proposal, Berry said, "There's some confusion that he asked to marry me, and I said no," Berry said. "That's not the case."

She added, "I did not say 'no,' we just don't have a date. Of course, I said yes, I would marry him."

The actress, 59, then giddily showed off her massive engagement ring.

In an interview with Today in June 2025, Hunt revealed that he had already proposed to Berry, but her answer was on hold.

“So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold, as you can see,” the musician, 55, told the outlet. “It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”

Berry went on to explain that she was hesitant about getting married because she had already tied the knot three times before.

The Oscar winner was married to retired MLB player David Justice from 1993 to 1997. She was then married to singer-actor Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005, followed by French actor Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016.

Hunt has also been divorced once.

Berry also opened up to the outlet why she was putting off tying the knot again, saying, “We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”

However, the “Monster’s Ball” star said she is not shutting down the idea altogether.

“I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” she said. “And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”

Berry and Hunt have been romantically linked for five years, first going public with their relationship in 2020.

Berry previously gushed about her relationship with Hunt in a 2024 appearance on "Today with Jenna & Friends."

"We've been doing this for five years together, so this is like the longest relationship I've ever had," she said. "When you find your person, you find your person. And now I've found my person, finally."

Berry went on to explain how she was set up with Hunt in 2020 by his brother, who worked for her menopause care-focused company, Respin. They established a friendship while socially distancing, Berry explained.

"Before we ever got together in any physical way, I had fallen madly in love just through talking and telling and sharing every single thing," she said.
