English Filmmaker Guy Ritchie shared an update on his upcoming "Hercules" live-action adaptation.

While attending the 2nd Red Sea International Film Festival, Ritchie revealed that the remake is something that could be done within the next year.

The director also stated that he tries to be as busy as possible, noting: “I used to make one movie a year; I’d quite like to make three movies a year. Because I like it, it’s not hard work for me. Even coming here, we wrapped filming at 04.30, you’re on a plane an hour later; you’re here, you start working, you go on a plane, I’ll land, I’ll go back to work,".

"As long as you’re not playing with jet-lag too aggressively, I’m f***ng happy doing that.”

Ritchie is helming the project from a script penned by Dave Callaham, the screenwriter of Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.

The remake will be produced by AGBO, the production company run by Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and is still in the early stages of development.

The original “Hercules” was a musical fantasy retelling of the Greek legend, which followed Hercules, the son of the Greek God, Zeus, who is turned into a half-god, half-mortal by the evil Hades. Hercules discovers his immortal heritage and is told by Zeus to return to Mount Olympus.

Tate Donovan voiced the lead role, alongside Susan Egan as his love interest, Megara, James Woods as Hades, and Danny DeVito as Philoctetes/Phil.

The 1997 movie had 18 writers who worked on the story and screenplay. It was directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker directed.

Disney over the past years released a number of live-action adaptations of its animated classics, such as “the Jungle Book”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Dumbo”, “Aladdin”, and “The Lion King”.

Moreover, a number of Disney’s animated classics live-action adaptations are scheduled to be released soon such as “Mulan“, “Lady and the Tramp”, “The Sword and the Stone” (Disney Plus), and “The Little Mermaid”.
