Production wrapped on "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special".
Director James Gunn shared the news on social media, saying: "We finished shooting the Holiday Special this week (out this Christmas). We finish shooting Vol 3 in about a week (out in May)."
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the special back in December 2020 and added that Gunn would return to both write and direct.
The 40-minute special is inspired by the 1978 "Star Wars Holiday Special", which Gunn shared he "unironically loved as a kid."
Most members of the Guardians cast are expected to return for the special, which will stream on Disney+ and serve as a precursor to "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3".
Moreover, the Guardians are also set to be featured in "Thor: Love and Thunder", which debuts on July 8.
The Holiday Special hits Disney+ in December 2022 while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres in theaters on May 5, 2023.
