On Monday, the residence of the Greek Ambassador in Cairo hosted a special cultural celebration highlighting the growing cooperation between the Greek Embassy and Egypt’s Academy of Arts.
The event came as part of a series of joint initiatives that included workshops and masterclasses organized by the embassy in collaboration with the Academy, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural exchange and artistic development.
More than 40 students from the Academy of Arts took part in the celebration, presenting a rich and diverse artistic program inspired by selections from Greek, Egyptian, and international heritage.
The performances reflected both cultural depth and creative dialogue, showcasing how music and the arts can bridge traditions and connect civilizations.
Welcoming the guests, the Greek Ambassador in Cairo Nikolaos Papageorgiou praised the ongoing partnership between the Greek Embassy and the Academy of Arts, emphasizing the importance of cultural cooperation in strengthening relations between Greece and Egypt.
He also highlighted the deep historical ties between the two friendly nations and commended the growing collaboration between their peoples across various fields, particularly in culture and the arts.
Throughout the evening, students delivered outstanding performances drawn from Arabic, Greek, and global musical traditions.
The program was supervised by Professor Dr. Salwa Hassan and Professor Dr. Maryam Torky, under whose guidance the students presented a range of vocal styles spanning both Eastern and Western schools of music.
The audience responded enthusiastically, applauding the students’ remarkable talent and expressive performances.
As a festive finale, students from the Higher Institute of Music and the Higher Institute of the Conservatoire performed “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” as a warm gesture of appreciation to the audience and in celebration of the Christmas season.
The evening stood as a vivid example of how cultural collaboration continues to strengthen Greek–Egyptian relations, affirming the role of the arts as a powerful bridge between nations and generations.
