The 2022 Grammys, officially known as the 64th annual Grammy Awards, were presented Sunday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Teenage pop phenom Olivia Rodrigo and R&B duo Silk Sonic dominated the major categories, while Jon Batiste won album of the year.

The Foo Fighters also had won three categories, a bittersweet victory as it comes nine days after their drummer Taylor Hawkins died at age 50.

They won categories of best rock performance "Making a Fire", best rock song "Waiting On a War", and best rock album "Medicine at Midnight".

The album was the band's 10th studio album and the last to feature Hawkins.

The band — Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, and Rami Jaffee — was scheduled to perform at the show, but pulled out in light of Hawkins' death.

The three-and-a-half-hour mega-concert was hosted by Trevor Noah and featured many A-list performers such as Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, Jon Batiste, Lil Nas X, H.E.R., and Nas.

The event mostly steered clear of politics or the pandemic, save for a virtual message from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy and an emotional tribute to victims of the Russian invasion.

“Even in the darkest times, music has the power to lift spirits and give you hope for a brighter tomorrow. There’s nobody who could use a little hope right now more than the people of Ukraine.” Zelenskiy noted in a pre-filmed video.

He continued: “The war. What is more opposite to music? The silence of ruined cities and killed people. Our children draw swooping rockets, not shooting stars,".

“The war doesn’t let us choose who survives and who stays in eternal silence. Our musicians wear body armor instead of tuxedos. They sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who can’t hear them. But the music will break through anyway.”

Zelenskiy praised his countrymen and pointed out that they defend their freedom to live, love, and sound.

"On our land, we are fighting Russia which brings horrible silence with its bombs. The dead silence. Fill the silence with your music! Fill it today to tell our story”.

The Ukrainian President urged Grammy viewers to publicly support Ukraine.

“I have a dream of them living and free. Free like you on the Grammy stage.” he added.

The speech served as an introduction to a John Legend performance of Free, along with Ukrainian musicians Mika Newton and Siuzanna Iglidan, and Ukrainian poet Lyuba Yakimchuk.

The "Sweetest Pie" singer Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion stepped onstage to present Rodrigo with the Best New Artist award while wearing matching Versace.

They looked stunning in the same black dress and shiny leggings, with both women accessorizing with oversized safety pins and chunky jewelry.

After the artists stepped onstage, Donatella Versace joined them to personalize each of their looks.

The moment was seemingly in tribute to a memorable one that occurred at the 1998 MTV VMAs. At that time, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston found themselves onstage in the same dress.
