Grammy-nominated artist Gracie Abrams released Thursday her album, “The Secret of Us", on YouTube and music digital stores.
The album consists of 12 songs and features pop star Taylor Swift, gracing Abrams, who was one of The Eras Tour's openers last year and one of her favorite tourmates, making a guest appearance on the single "US".
The song is the fifth track on Abrams’ official sophomore album. Swift fans know that a track 5 on one of her own albums holds a special place.
The track is produced by their common producer, Aaron Dessner, of the National fame. The finger-picking intro, common for one of his productions, gives way to a lusher balladic sound, in which the two singers’ voices are often entwined to the point that it’s not always easy to distinguish them in the mix, although Abrams gets the lion’s share of the lead vocals, and Swift gets a few solo lines later on.
"The Secret of Us" is Abrams' most expansive body of work both sonically and narratively. A portion of these songs were also written with Abrams' best friend, Audrey Hobert.
Coming off the heels of her hugely successful debut "Good Riddance", the singer shows how much she has accomplished in one short year. Her growth as a songwriter and vocalist is showcased in her most extroverted album yet, as she continues to work with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner.
The record is described to be written with "The urgency with which you run home to detail every moment of a night to your friend, with her live experiences over the past year having deeply shaped the identity of this album."
