The Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association and the Film Society, is organizing a special cultural evening at 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, at the seminar hall of the Russian House in Cairo. The event commemorates the 90th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Soviet and Russian filmmaker and actor Stanislav Govorukhin.
Govorukhin enjoyed a long and distinguished artistic career and is regarded as one of the most prominent directors in Soviet and Russian cinema. His films remain milestones in cinematic history, reflecting his commitment to historical truth, human justice, and the aspirations of the Russian people.

Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activities at the Russian House and Vice President of the Film Society, will present an overview of Govorukhin’s artistic journey and highlight his most significant works, some of which participated in the Cairo International Film Festival.
Dr. Anna Benoit, writer, poet, and specialist in the history of Egyptian civilization, will also deliver a speech on filmmaker Stanislav Govorukhin. She will share insights from her recent visit to Egypt, which included Cairo, Alexandria, and Aswan. During the evening, she will perform a song in the hieroglyphic language, which she masters.

The celebration will conclude with a screening of the feature film “Assa,” directed by Sergei Solovyov and starring Stanislav Govorukhin, Sergei Bugaev, and Tatyana Drubich. The film won the award for Best Film in the Soviet Union in 1989.
The screening will take place in the presence of members of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association and members of the Film Society, headed by cinematographer Mahmoud Abdel Samea.
