Retired veteran actress Cariman, one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of cinema, died Tuesday at the age of 87 after struggling with illness.
The funeral prayer will be held after the Zuhr prayer on Wednesday at the Mostafa Mahmoud Mosque in Mohandeseen, where she is set to be buried afterward in her family's cemetery in the 6th of October City.
Cariman was born on December 18, 1936, in Cairo to a Lebanese-rooted father and an Egyptian-Turkish mother.
She graduated from the Lycee. The late star had loved the world of showbiz from childhood, she participated in children's radio programs with Baba Sharo.
Later on, Cariman moved to act on the big screen and starred in a large number of films such as “Al-Hamawat Al-Fatinat”, “Mirati Mudir 'Aam”, “Tamr Henna”, “Banat El Youm”, “Djamila Bouhraid”, and "Sukkar Hanem".
She continued to act for 12 years and then retired after getting married and giving birth to her only son, Sherin Mahdy.
Cariman preferred to step away from her career and take care of her family.
In 1967, Cariman starred in her last film “Noura”. The ensemble cast also included Kamal El-Shenawy, Nelly, Nagwa Fouad, Adel Adham, and Badr Al-Din Jamjoom.
The film was hailed from scriptwriter Mohamed El-Tabii and directed by Mahmoud Zulfiqar.
