In a new step to support digital transformation and promote financial inclusion, the Board of Directors of the Gold and Precious Metals Division at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, held a meeting to review the outcomes of its recent discussions with senior officials from the Egyptian Tax Authority regarding the implementation of the e-invoicing and e-receipt systems in the gold market.

Four-Month Plan to Expand Digital Tax Systems

Eng. Ehab Wassef, Chairman of the Gold and Precious Metals Division, said the meeting reviewed the executive roadmap for expanding the adoption of the e-invoicing and e-receipt systems among gold manufacturers and traders, with the aim of improving market transparency, organizing commercial transactions, and integrating all segments of the sector into Egypt’s electronic tax system.

He noted that the digital system represents a significant milestone in the modernization of Egypt’s gold market, in line with the government's broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen financial inclusion.

Awareness Program for Traders and Manufacturers

Wassef added that the Division is coordinating with the Egyptian Tax Authority to launch a comprehensive awareness program targeting gold traders and manufacturers. The initiative will explain the importance of the e-invoicing and e-receipt systems, the implementation process, and the benefits of digital tax compliance, including simplified procedures, greater operational efficiency, and improved commercial transactions.

Intensive Workshops Planned Over the Next Four Months

He explained that the coming period will witness a series of workshops and joint meetings with the relevant authorities to train professionals across the gold sector on the new digital systems.

According to Wassef, the next four months are expected to bring significant progress in the digitalization of tax transactions within Egypt’s gold market, while continued coordination with the Egyptian Tax Authority will help address any implementation challenges.

Supporting a More Competitive Gold Industry

Wassef emphasized that modernizing tax transaction systems is one of the key pillars for developing Egypt’s gold industry. He noted that adopting the e-invoicing and e-receipt systems will help create a more transparent, organized, and efficient business environment, ultimately enhancing the sector’s competitiveness and supporting its long-term growth.
