Dozens of Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan were wounded on Wednesday after the Israeli army fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters.

The Golan's residents were trying to prevent Israeli forces from entering their lands, according to Russia Today.

The occupied Golan’s residents called for a general and comprehensive strike today, Wednesday. Israel intends to install huge fans to generate electricity.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), over 20 people were wounded during the demonstration as the Israeli forces attempted to disperse the protesters from the area.

The call was issued after the meeting of the religious and social authority in the Golan, against the backdrop of Israel's intention to build giant turbine fans to produce electric energy.

Two days ago, the Israeli forces closed a number of the main entrances to the villages of the occupied Golan and prevented the people from accessing their agricultural lands in the areas where they intend to set up fans.

This move comes a day after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on the Syrian regime to confront Israel in the occupied Golan Heights.

He confirmed Tehran's continued support for Damascus, during his meeting with the new Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad in Tehran.
