Eight pro-Iranian fighters were killed by the Israeli bombing that targeted military sites in Syria at night, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, Israel launched strikes targeting, according to the SOHR, a center and weapons store belonging to the Iranian forces and Lebanese Hezbollah in the Jabal Al-Mani area in the southern Damascus countryside.

The strikes also reached a center for the "Syrian Resistance to Liberate the Golan" group in Quneitra (south) on the border with the occupied Golan.

The director of the observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, said that the bombing near Damascus left eight dead, and he could not determine their nationalities, in addition to a number of wounded.

It also caused the destruction of a missile depot. In Quneitra, the bombing caused damage to vehicles, without any casualties being recorded.

The official Syrian News Agency "SANA" reported, according to a military source, "The Zionist enemy launched an airstrike from the direction of the occupied Golan towards southern Damascus."

There was no Israeli claim to these strikes. An Israeli army spokesman said only that his country "does not comment on reports in foreign media."

The Israeli bombing has been repeated in recent days, according to the SOHR, most recently last Saturday, and led to the killing of 14 fighters loyal to Iran, most of them Iraqis, in eastern Syria.

The Israeli army announced a week ago that its fighters had bombed “military targets of the Quds Force and the Syrian army,” in what is considered a “response” after the discovery of explosive devices along the northern border.

According to the observatory, the bombing resulted in ten deaths, including Syrian soldiers and fighters loyal to Iran.

In recent years, Israel has intensified its bombardment rate in Syria, targeting mainly army positions, Iranian targets, and other Lebanese Hezbollah targets. The observatory counted that Israel carried out at least 36 airstrikes in the country during the current year.

Israel rarely confirms the implementation of these strikes.
