"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" Release Date Pushed Back

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have pushed back the release date of the highly anticipated movie “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.

The blockbuster release date has been moved to April 12, 2024. It was originally set to come out a month earlier on March 15, 2024.

The movie is a follow-up to 2021's “Godzilla vs. Kong”. It was released under the studio’s day-and-date pandemic model and allocated $31.6M opening, $100.9M domestic, and $470M WW gross, despite being released on HBO Max the same day it hit theaters.

Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry, who appeared in the 2021 movie, return for the sequel with Dan Stevens and Kaylee Hottle joining the cast.

Adam Wingard, who directed the previous installment, is also back to direct the MonsterVerse follow-up.

Legendary produces the pic alongside Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will be the fifth movie in the franchise after directed Gareth Edwards launched it with 2014’s “Godzilla”, which was followed by “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” before the two traded blows in “Godzilla vs. Kong”.

There is also a “Skull Island” anime series coming to Netflix and a live-action “Godzilla and the Titans” series coming to Apple TV+ with Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, Kiersey Clemons among the cast.
