The title of the highly-anticipated sequel to 2021’s “Godzilla vs. Kong” was released Wednesday, and it’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.

The movie’s producer Legendary shared a brief teaser showing the fearsome reptile facing off against the massive primate, and tweeted “The #Monsterverse continues”.

Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry, who appeared in the 2021 movie, return for the sequel with Dan Stevens joining the cast.

Adam Wingard, who directed the previous installment, is also back to direct the MonsterVerse follow-up. “Godzilla vs. Kong” was released under the studio’s day-and-date pandemic model and allocated $31.6M opening, $100.9M domestic, and $470M WW gross, despite being released on HBO Max the same day it hit theaters.

Legendary produces the pic alongside Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will be the fifth movie in the franchise after directed Gareth Edwards launched it with 2014’s “Godzilla”, which was followed by “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” before the two traded blows in “Godzilla vs. Kong”.

There’s also a “Skull Island” anime series coming to Netflix and a live-action “Godzilla and the Titans” series coming to Apple TV+ with Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, Kiersey Clemons among the cast.

"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" hit theaters on March 15, 2024.
