Egyptian actress Gihan El Shamashergy has landed her first leading film role in "Maad Asha".
Rami Imam directs the feature from a script by Ahmed Abdel Wahab and Karim Samy aka Kemz.
Principal photography is set to commence in the coming period.
Up next for El Shamashergy is the star-studded film "El Kalam Ala Eh: Awal Laila".
Ahmed Hatem, Aya Samaha, Mostafa Gharieb, Sayed Ragab, Entsar, and Khaled Kamal round out the cast.
It is scripted by Ahmed Badawy, directed by Sandro Canaan, and produced by Film Square.
The film revolves around the first night after marriage, through four couples who face unexpected situations on their wedding night and how the outcome impacts their lives.
In a lighthearted treatment, "El Kalam Ala Eh" showcases the challenges that newlyweds face despite their different backgrounds, and how they deal with them, highlighting differences in temperament and reactions at that pivotal moment in their lives, and how they interact with one another in high pressure nature.
The feature marks the second collaboration between Hatem and Samaha after the 2024 TV series "Omar Affendi".
"El Kalam Ala Eh" is set to hit theatres across Egypt and the Arab world on May 14.
Born on May 29, 1986, El Shamashergy made her acting debut in the 2020 series "Luebat Al-Nesyan" ("Forgetfulness Game").
Before launching her acting career, she was interested in handicrafts and specialized in jewelry design and founded her brand after studying English literature at the university.
El Shamashergy also held workshops for making jewelry for the women of the Nubian island of Hessa in Aswan.
She also studied contemporary dance and presented shows on the American University in Cairo stage.
