Egyptian actress Gihan El Shamashergy is once again at the center of the public scrutiny. This time, the headlines are not about a new production or a business deal but about a crime.
El Shamashergy and 4 other defendants are scheduled to appear in court on March 26.
They are facing charges of robbery by force and injury a woman in relation to case number 6553 of 2025.
The incident goes back when the plaintiff and her partner established a company specializing in designing and tailoring wedding dresses in an apartment in the Qasr El-Nil district of Cairo.
The petitioner's partner later met the actress, who sold handmade silver jewelry, and rented a room within the company to sell her business before later leaving to pursue an acting career.
Personal dispute arose between the company owner and her partner, leading the latter to conspire with the actress to break into the company premises.
They forced their way into the apartment, causing significant damage to its property in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
During the incident, the accuser's mother, attempted to intervene, recover the company's property, and contact the police.
However, the driver of the vehicle of the defendants deliberately hit her, causing severe injuries.
The company owner, suffered a severe nervous shock upon learning of the incident, resulting in temporary memory loss.
The investigations revealed the defendants' attempt to conceal the incident by claiming it was a traffic accident.
Tools allegedly used in the incident, including a hammer, were also seized.
The investigation concluded with the referral of the defendants, including El Shamashergy, to criminal court for trial.
