Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik Break Up After Argument with Yolanda Hadid

Super Model Gigi Hadid and Singer Zayn Malik have broken up, sources confirm to "PEOPLE".

"They are not together right now. They are both good parents though," says a Hadid family friend. "They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."

Gigi's representative told People in a statement, "Gigi is only focusing on what is best for Khi. She is asking for privacy during this time." Friends of Yolanda and Malik did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Malik released a statement earlier on Thursday following a report that Gigi's mother Yolanda was considering filing a police report against him for beating her, that he "vigorously" denied Yolanda's "false allegations".

In a statement shared on Twitter, Malik said he wanted to create "a place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart," adding that the incident "was and still should be a private matter."

"Malik was referring to Yolanda in his statement on social media," sources to PEOPLE.
