Akua Donkor, a candidate in Ghana’s December 7 presidential election and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, has died in a hospital in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, on Tuesday, according to local media reports.
Akua Donkor, 72, one of two female candidates in the election, along with Nana Frimpoma of the People’s Party (CPP), was diagnosed with abdominal pain, according to Africa News.
After receiving initial treatment at a hospital in eastern Ghana, she was allowed to return home, however, the two suffered a medical emergency and were transferred to a major hospital in Accra for further care, where she died.
