Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel Razek has signed on to star in the TV series "Alyah".
The cast also includes Mohamed Reyad, Sabry Fawwaz, and more.
"Alyah" is produced by Islam El Morsy and is set to screen during the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon.
Abdel Razek participated last Ramadan with the TV adaptation of the 1956 star-studded film "Shabab Imraa" (A Woman’s Youth).
"Shabab Imraa" is one of the 100 most important films in the history of Egyptian cinema.
It featured a starry cast that included the likes of Shadya, Taheyya Kariokka, Shokry Sarhan, Abdel Wareth Asar, Serag Mounir, and Fardos Mohamed.
Salah Abu Seif directed the pic from a script he co-wrote alongside Amin Yousseff Ghurab and Sayid Bidir. It was screened at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival.
"Shabab Imraa" chronicles the life of Imam Biltagy Hassanein (Sarhan), a young man from the countryside to study in Cairo. He rents a house in the Al-Khalifa neighborhood from a woman called Shafaat (Kariokka), who seduces him and causes him to fall back on his studies.
However, Salwa (Shadya), a young close to him who has known him since childhood helps him out of the spiral, despite her father advising him to stay away from her, leading Hassanein to try to break free from Shafaat’s clutches.
The TV reimagining consists of 15 episodes and featured Abdel Razek as Shafaat, Youssef Omar as Imam Biltagy Hassanein, Dalia Shawky as Salwa, and Mohamed Mahmoud as Am Hasbo.
Tarek El Nahry, Abeer Sabry, Mahmoud Hafez, Ahmed Fathy, and Jory Bakr round out the cast of the drama.
"Shabab Imraa" is scripted by Mohammed Suleiman Abdul-Malik, directed by Ahmed Hassan, and produced by Phenomena Media Production.
Abdel Razek, born on July 6, 1965, studied computer science at Cairo University. She started her career on television with several appearances in television commercials.
She started getting film roles in the early 1990s and scored her first major role in the 1999 film “Lamadah” (Chatterbox).
Abdel Razek is known for her roles in TV productions such as "Ya Regal Al-Alem Etahido" (2000), "Aailat Al Hajj Metwaly” (2001), "Batta W Akhwatha" (2004), "Al-Batniya" (2009), “Ma’a Sabq Al Israr” (2012), "El Kabous" (2015), “Hekayet Kayat” (2013), and "Al-Sayyeda Al-Oula" (2014).
She is also known for her performances in theatrical productions such as “Al Ikhwa Al Andal” (The Wicked Brothers), and “Houda Karama”.
In 2003, Abdel Razek took part in the Ramadan trivia show “Farah Farah” (Joy Joy).
