Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel Razek is suing Schermo for Artistic Production‎ and Distribution, the banner behind her TV series "Alyah," which was initially set to screen during the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon.

Abdel Razek cited "contractual violations" as the reason and noted her non-involvement with"Alyah" once again.

In a statement on Thursday, Counselor Yasser Kantoush, the actress' lawyer, said the company did not adhere to the terms of the contract signed between the two parties.

"The banner began work on the series on 15-10-2025 without notifying her or obtaining her approval, and also without shooting any of her scenes nor paying any of her financial dues stipulated in the contract," the statement added.

It continued that the company promoted the series using Abdel Razek's name before filming was completed, an act considered to be an illegal exploitation of her name without legal basis.

The actress has instructed her lawyer to pursue all necessary legal action against the banner to preserve her intellectual and material rights, as well as to contact the relevant authorities to prevent the granting of any permits related to the series.

This was not the first ordeal between the actress and the banner. Abdel Razek dropped from the series without citing a reason in December 2025, before backtracking on her decision two days later.

Born on July 6, 1965, Abdel Razek started her career on television with several appearances in television commercials.

She started getting film roles in the early 1990s and scored her first major role in the 1999 film “Lamadah” (Chatterbox).

Abdel Razek is known for her roles in TV productions such as "Ya Regal Al-Alem Etahido" (2000), "Aailat Al Hajj Metwaly” (2001), "Batta W Akhwatha" (2004), "Al-Batniya" (2009), “Ma’a Sabq Al Israr” (2012), "El Kabous" (2015), “Hekayet Kayat” (2013), and "Al-Sayyeda Al-Oula" (2014).

She is also known for her performances in theatrical productions such as “Al Ikhwa Al Andal” (The Wicked Brothers), and “Houda Karama”.

In 2003, Abdel Razek took part in the Ramadan trivia show “Farah Farah” (Joy Joy).
