On Thursday, renowned author Bahaa Taher passed away at the age of 87, here are the key works of the late author and the most popular adaptations. 

Khalty Safiya Wal Dair (Aunt Safiya and Monastry)

It is one of the most popular novels by the author, and its events take place in Luxor, so the presence of Egypt's various cultures such as Ancient Egyptian, Islamic, and Coptic.

In 1994, the novel was turned into a successful TV adaptation and it was classified as one of the Egyptian TV iconic shows. 

Wahit El Ghoroub (Sunset Oasis)

It is one of the prominent works by Taher as it tackled the wonders of love, separation, spirituality, mystery, and journies into the desert, alongside touching upon the lives of tribal people in Siwa, and the political situation in Egypt. 

In 2017, the book turned into one of the most popular and magnificent TV works in the past ten years.

The theme song of the show became also one of its success features.

Qalat Doha (Says Doha)

It was published in 1985, and it discussed the social life and political situation in Egypt after the 23rd July 1952 Revolution.

It is full of literary allusions and references which made it an artistic piece of beauty.

The book was adapted into an audio play by the State-Owned Cultural Program.

"Ana El Malik Geet" (I, The King Comes)

It is one of the most famous short story collections by Taher, released in 1998. The main story of the collection and the book opener carried the notions of cultural diversity and passion to desert Taher loves to introduce in his writings. 

"Sahir Al Sahraa" (The Alchemist Translation)

Taher introduced the most accurate and best Arabic translation of the world-famed The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

He introduced the translation under the name of "Sahir Al Sahraa" (Desert Wizard).

In addition, the late author wrote the script of a series called "Bait Al Gamaleya" (Al Gamaliyah House).
