Media sources highlighted the love story that brought together the late Brazilian legend Pelé and the veteran Egyptian actress Zubaida Tharwat in the seventies of the last century.
In one of her interviews in 2005, Tharwat unveiled her love story with Pelé, affirming that she had a massive admiration for the footballer.
The actress stated that they met in Kuwait but she was familiar with the Brazilian King despite taking pictures with him. She revealed that football was not a priority for her at that time.
Furthermore, the Egyptian star pointed out that Pelé proposed to her and asked her to move with him to Brazil. However, she could not know what he was saying due to his lack of proficiency in English or Arabic, stressing that she was looking at him without understanding him.
After returning to Cairo, Pelé called Tharwat but she did not know the credibility of his love for her, adding that the relationship did not develop after this call.
Nicknamed “The King”, Pelé won three World Cups with Brazil between 1958 and 1970. He was the only player in football history to achieve the milestone.
He scored a remarkable 77 goals in 92 games for the national team, a record that was equaled by Neymar at the 2022 World Cup.
