German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his happiness to visit Egypt and meet with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, praising Egypt's tireless efforts to negotiate an Israel-Hamas agreement as well as Egypt's role as a regional mediator in the Middle East conflict.
In a statement published on President Steinmeier's official page, the German President said after his talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi: "I am grateful for Egypt's tireless efforts to negotiate an agreement between Israel and Hamas, as well as the conflict in the Middle East and Egypt's role as a regional mediator."
The topics of the talks also included good cooperation in the fields of business, science and education, noting that the phrase "Made in Germany" is highly valued here, and German education in particular is highly valued, stressing that the two countries share common interests when it comes to foreign policy issues.
The Federal President also visited a German school this morning, and on the first day of his trip to Egypt, he exchanged ideas with representatives of Egyptian civil society and German political institutions.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Al-Ittihadiya Palace on Wednesday. President El-Sisi welcomed his German counterpart, saying: "I welcome the German President as a dear guest to Egypt as the first German President to visit Egypt in 25 years."
