Gerard Butler-Led "Kandahar" New Trailer Released

Open Road Films released Tuesday new trailer for Gerard Butler's action movie "Kandahar".

Navid Negahban, Ali Fazal, Travis Fimmel and Elnaaz Norouzi also star.

Filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh directed the movie from a script he co-wrote alongside Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh.

"Kandahar" follows Tom Harris (Butler) who is an undercover CIA operative stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan.

After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.

Basil Iwanyk, Brendon Boyea, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Christian Mercuri, Ali Jaafar, and Scott LaStaiti produce.

Open Road picked up Kandahar in an eight-figure deal in the low teens in September.

"Kandahar" hits the theaters on May 26.
