George Clooney is mourning the death of his older sister, Adelia “Ada” Zeidler, who passed away on December 19 at the age of 65 following a battle with cancer.
In a statement to People magazine, Clooney described his sister as his hero, praising her courage and sense of humour throughout her illness.
He said that he and his wife, Amal Clooney, will deeply miss her.
Zeidler, an artist and former elementary art teacher, spent most of her life in Augusta, Kentucky, where she was known for her dedication to education and the local arts community.
Despite her brother’s global fame, she chose to live a private life.
She is survived by her parents, Nick and Nina Clooney; her children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga; her brother George and his wife Amal; and extended family members.
A funeral mass will be held on December 22 in Maysville, Kentucky, with memorial donations directed to the Knoedler Memorial Library in Augusta.
