GEM Wins FIDIC International Contract Users' Award

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Project continues its international achievements, as it won the best project of FIDIC International Contract Users' Awards.

This came during the 6th annual FIDIC International Contract Users' Awards Ceremony held in the British capital, London.

This award is the first of its kind for an Egyptian project, and reflects the success of managing and implementing FIDIC contracts without any disputes between the parties.

In this context, Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities praised the museum for winning the award, which is the second this month, as the museum had also won the Versailles International Award last week, among the seven best museums in the world for the year 2024.

On his part, Atef Moftah, the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum Project expressed his pride in this achievement, stressing that the museum project reflects the Egyptian state's commitment to international standards in managing major projects, and is a testament to the state's ability to achieve excellence and innovation while preserving the civilizational and cultural heritage.

Moreover, Sir Vivian Ramsay, Chair of the Jury said that the GEM project shows wonderful uniqueness and distinction, and it is important to see the increasing use of FIDIC contracts globally and their pivotal role in delivering international construction projects.

Catherine Karakatsanis, President of the FIDIC added that the FIDIC Contract User Awards is an essential part of the global events calendar, highlighting best practices in the use of these contracts and their role in enhancing transparency and cooperation between parties.
