The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) received the fourth compartment of King Tutankhamun, coming from the Egyptian Museum located at Tahrir square.
Major General Atef Moftah, The General supervisor of GEM said that the transfer was carried out amid security measures by the Tourism and Antiquities Police and under the supervision of the museum restorers.
He pointed out that this compartment is the smallest one of King Tutankhamun's compartments, but it is considered one of the largest artifacts of the king's treasures that have been transferred so far to the museum.
Dr. Al-Tayyib Abbas, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Archaeological Affairs at the Grand Egyptian Museum, said that this compartment will be subject to restoration work inside the museum and it is made from golden wood. It was found inside the king’s tomb in the western mainland in Luxor, which was uncovered in November 1922.
