Gebaly Meets President of IPU to Enhance Bilateral Relations

On Wednesday, Speaker of Egyptian Parliament Hanafy Gebaly and the President of Inter-Parliamentary (IPU) Union Mr. Duarte Pacheco met privately on the sidelines of the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments in Vienna.

During their meeting, Gebaly said that Egypt’s Parliamentary is committed to forging bilateral relations with IPU, based on mutual trust, respect, cooperation, and common interests, affirming that the Inter-Parliamentary Union is the focal point for worldwide parliamentary dialogue.

He also appreciated the historic role played by the IPU in supporting democracy at both the national and international levels.

On the other hand, Pacheco praised the effective role of Egypt’s Parliamentary and its vitality in the IPU sessions, pointing out that Egypt’s Parliamentary has made a lot of fruitful efforts in building and creating long-established relations between them.

Early this day, Gebaly met with Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, and Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
